GTA 4 cheats are different from the button codes of older GTA games: every cheat is a phone number you dial on Niko Bellic’s cell phone. That means the same codes work on PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One/Series X|S (through backward compatibility). Here is every number, how to use them and which ones block achievements.

How to use cheats in GTA 4
- Press Up on the d-pad (or the phone key / Up arrow on PC) to take out Niko’s phone.
- Press Up again or open the keypad, then type the number — for example 482-555-0100.
- Press the call button. A message confirms the cheat.
Every number you dial is saved in a new Cheats menu on the phone, so you can switch it on again later without retyping.

What do the letters mean?
Rockstar hid words in the numbers using the letters on a phone keypad. That makes them easier to remember:
- đź“ž 482 = GTA, 362 = DOC, 486 = GUN
- đźš“ 267 = COP, 468 = HOT (weather), 359 = FLY
- đźš— 227 = CAR, 625 = MBK (motorbike), 938 = WET (boat)
The last part is almost always 555-0100 or 555-0150, so once you know the word you know the cheat.
Is there a GTA 4 money cheat?
No. Like GTA 5, GTA 4 has no cheat for money. Niko earns cash through missions, assassination jobs and side activities. Money matters less in GTA 4 than in other games, though — most of what you need is unlocked by the story.
Extra cheats for Episodes from Liberty City
Both expansions keep all the GTA 4 numbers and add their own. These are only active in their own episode.

Why isn’t my GTA 4 cheat working?
- ✅ Phone not allowed? During some missions and cutscenes you can’t use the phone.
- ✅ Typed a typo? Check the area code — 227 (CAR) and 267 (COP) are easy to mix up.
- ✅ Vehicle didn’t appear? Stand on an open road. Spawned vehicles can’t appear inside buildings.
- âś… Episode code in the base game? Lost and Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony codes only work in their own episode.
Which GTA 4 cheats block achievements?
Unlike most games, GTA 4 only blocks specific achievements for specific cheats, and only in that save:

If you’re chasing 100% achievements, keep a separate save for cheating — or use only the “safe” cheats in your main save.
Handy facts about GTA 4 cheats
- 🌦️ Weather (468-555-0100) cycles through eight weather types — dial it several times to reach the one you want.
- 🎨 Vehicle colors: dial a car cheat again for a different color. The FIB Buffalo and Annihilator always spawn black.
- ♾️ Unlimited ammo: after 100% completion, entering the weapon cheats repeatedly lets you stack ammo without limit.
- 🎵 ZiT (948-555-0100) isn’t really a cheat — it names the song on the radio and can text you a link, just like a music app.
GTA 4 on today’s platforms
GTA 4 launched on April 29, 2008 for Xbox 360 and PS3, followed by PC in December 2008. Today you can play it on PC through GTA IV: The Complete Edition and on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S through backward compatibility. GTA 4 cheats for PC players
On PC, press the Up arrow (or the key you set for the phone) to bring out Niko’s phone, then type the digits on your keyboard or click the keypad. The numbers are exactly the same as on console. PC players can also use trainers and mods, but those are separate from the official cheats, can crash the game and should never be used online.
Quick reference: the GTA 4 cheats you’ll use most
If you only remember three numbers, make them these. 482-555-0100 fixes almost any bad situation: it refills health, armor and ammo, gives you strong weapons and repairs your car. 267-555-0100 clears the police when a chase gets out of hand. And 359-555-0100 drops an Annihilator helicopter beside you for fast travel or a dramatic escape. Save them in your phone’s Cheats menu and you can call them up in seconds whenever you need them.
Secret: the ice-cream truck trick
