GTA 6 Map: All 6 Leonida Regions Explained (Vice City & Beyond)
GTA 6 takes place across the whole state of Leonida, not just one city. Here is every region revealed so far and what each one is like.
GTA 6 is set in Leonida, Rockstar’s version of Florida. Six regions have been revealed: Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga. Rockstar has not confirmed an official map size.

Where is GTA 6 set?
The GTA 6 map is set in the fictional US state of Leonida, which is heavily inspired by Florida. The big city is a modern Vice City — the same city fans loved in GTA Vice City (2002) — but this time it is one part of a much larger state with beaches, swamps, small towns and a national park.
All 6 GTA 6 regions at a glance
| Region | What it’s like | Looks inspired by |
|---|---|---|
| Vice City | Neon nightlife, beaches, skyscrapers and luxury | Miami |
| Leonida Keys | A chain of islands joined by long bridges | Florida Keys |
| Grassrivers | Wetlands, airboats and wildlife | The Everglades |
| Port Gellhorn | A faded tourist town on the Gulf coast | Florida Panhandle beach towns |
| Ambrosia | Farmland and a sugar factory town | Sugar country near Lake Okeechobee |
| Mount Kalaga | Forests, trails and mountains in a national park | Southern Appalachian country |
Vice City
The heart of the map. Expect crowded beaches, art-deco streets, clubs, marinas and a skyline that lights up at night. Most of the story's glamour — and probably its biggest heists — will happen here.
Leonida Keys
A string of small islands linked by long ocean bridges. Think boats, fishing spots, island bars and some of the best sunset drives in the game.
Grassrivers
A huge wetland area full of water channels and wildlife. Airboats look like the best way to get around, and the trailers suggest you should watch out for alligators.
Port Gellhorn
A once-popular Gulf coast resort town that has seen better days: cheap motels, empty shops and a rougher, small-town feel compared to Vice City.
Ambrosia
An inland farming area built around the sugar industry, with a big sugar refinery run by a company called Allied Crystal. Expect long rural roads and quiet towns.
Mount Kalaga
A national park with forests, hills and trails — perfect for off-road driving, hunting and hiking. Florida itself is flat, so this region shows Rockstar mixing in landscapes from further north.
Getting around the GTA 6 map
With beaches, islands, wetlands and mountains, Leonida is built for more than just cars. The trailers show:
- 🚗 Cars and motorbikes on long highways and city streets
- 🚤 Boats along the coast and the Keys
- 🐊 Airboats skimming across the Grassrivers wetlands
Expect the ocean bridges of the Leonida Keys and the swamp channels of Grassrivers to become some of the most fun routes on the map.
Vice City then and now
Vice City first appeared in GTA Vice City (2002) and GTA Vice City Stories (2006), both set in the 1980s. GTA 6 brings the city into the present day — so instead of neon 80s fashion, expect social media, modern cars and today’s Miami-style nightlife.
GTA 6 map vs GTA 5 map
GTA 5 was set in San Andreas: the city of Los Santos plus the countryside of Blaine County. GTA 6 swaps that for a whole state with six very different regions. Rockstar has not published size numbers for either comparison yet, so treat any “X times bigger” claims as guesses until the game is out.
How big is the GTA 6 map?
Rockstar has not confirmed an official size. What we can say from the trailers is that Leonida covers several very different regions connected into one world, and stretches far beyond Vice City itself. Any exact square-mile figure you see online right now is a fan estimate.
