How much is GTA 6?

In the United States, GTA 6 costs $79.99 for the Standard Edition. In euro countries such as France it is €79.99. That makes it about $10 more than the $69.99 that most big console releases have cost in recent years — a jump that matches the scale of the game and Rockstar’s confidence that players will pay it.

Prices in other countries (UK pounds, Indian rupees, Pakistani rupees and so on) are set by each store, so always check the final price on the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store for your region before you pay.

GTA 6 price: Standard vs Ultimate Edition

There are only two versions of the game. There is no special or collector’s edition of the game itself.

What’s in the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition?

For an extra $20, the Ultimate Edition adds a bundle of in-game items on top of the full game. According to the edition list published at pre-order launch, it includes:

• 🚗 Vehicles — including a 1995 Grotti Cheetah, a Vapid Dominator buggy, a Dinka Enduro motorcycle, a Shitzu Squalo boat and a kayak.
• 🔫 Weapons — custom revolvers and pistols with unique finishes.
• 👕 Style packs — extra outfits, tattoos and cosmetic items for Jason and Lucia.
• 🏪 Businesses — a set of shops and garages you can own, such as a mod shop, a salon, a clothing store and a tattoo parlour.
• 🗺️ Extra side missions — bonus jobs that are available from day one.

None of these items are needed to finish the story. They mostly give you a head start: a faster car early on, more outfits and a few money-making businesses sooner than usual.

GTA 6 pre-order bonus

Every pre-order — Standard or Ultimate — comes with the Vintage Vice City Pack. It is a retro bonus that nods to the original Vice City: vintage outfits for Jason and Lucia and a classic 1955 Vapid Stanier car. Reports also list a garage and themed weapon skins as part of the pack.

The bonus is tied to pre-ordering, so if you want it, buy before launch day. After release, the pack may not be available the same way.

Physical vs digital: is there a GTA 6 disc?

This catches a lot of people out. The Standard Edition is sold in a physical box at stores like Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, Walmart and Target — but reports say the box contains a download code, not a game disc. The Ultimate Edition is digital only.

What this means for you:

• 📶 You need an internet connection to download the game, even if you buy a box.
• 💾 You need enough free storage on day one — there is no installing from a disc.
• 🎁 A boxed code still makes a good gift, because it can be wrapped and handed over.

GTA 6 pre-load date

Digital pre-loading starts on November 12, 2026 — exactly one week before launch. Pre-loading lets your console download the game early, so it is ready the moment it unlocks. Rockstar has not announced an exact pre-load time, so leave your console in rest mode with automatic downloads turned on from that day.

Is there a GTA 6 collector’s edition?

Not for the game itself. What does exist is a merchandise collection sold on the Rockstar Games Store, reported at $399.99. It contains physical items — such as a gator figure, sunglasses, a bag, a hat and a poster with a map of Leonida — but the game is not included. Reports describe it as a limited run that ships from November 19, so treat it as a fan collectible rather than an edition of GTA 6.

Why does GTA 6 cost $80?

Rockstar and Take-Two have not explained the price in detail, but a few things make the $79.99 tag less surprising:

1. Development time. GTA 6 has been in development for many years, and the delays to November 2026 added even more work.

3. Industry trend. Nintendo had already priced Mario Kart World at $79.99 in 2025, so the $80 barrier was broken before GTA 6.
4. Demand. GTA 5 is one of the best-selling games ever made, and the GTA 6 trailers broke viewing records. Rockstar knows millions of players will buy it on day one.

How to pre-order GTA 6 (step by step)

1. Open the PlayStation Store (PS5) or Microsoft Store (Xbox Series X|S) on your console, phone app or browser.
2. Search for Grand Theft Auto VI.
3. Choose Standard or Ultimate and check the price in your currency.
4. Confirm the purchase. You won’t be able to play yet, but the game will appear in your library.
5. Turn on automatic downloads so pre-loading starts by itself on November 12.

Buying a boxed copy from a shop instead? Keep the code safe and redeem it on your console as soon as you get it, so the pre-load can begin on time.

Ways to save on GTA 6 (and scams to avoid)

• 🛒 Compare boxed codes. Big retailers sometimes discount the boxed Standard Edition a little close to launch.
• 🎁 Use gift card deals. Discounted PlayStation or Xbox gift cards during store promotions can lower the real price.
• ⚠️ Avoid “cheap GTA 6 keys”. Websites and social media posts offering GTA 6 for a few dollars, “free download” or “early access” are scams. Buy only from official stores or well-known retailers.
• 💻 No legit PC copies exist yet. Any “GTA 6 PC download” is fake until Rockstar announces a PC version.

Will the GTA 6 price drop after launch?

Don’t count on it soon. Rockstar’s big releases tend to hold their price for a long time because they keep selling for years. Discounts usually come much later through store sales. If you want to play at launch, the pre-order price is effectively the price.
