How to enter GTA San Andreas cheats on PlayStation

1. Load your save and play normally — the game must not be paused.
2. Press the buttons in order. “Left”, “Right”, “Up” and “Down” mean the d-pad, and “O” means Circle.
3. Watch for “Cheat activated” at the top-left of the screen.

Stand still while entering codes. The buttons still do their normal jobs, so pressing X or Triangle while walking near a car can make CJ jump in or punch someone, which may interrupt the code.

GTA San Andreas cheats on Xbox

Xbox uses exactly the same order — you just swap each PlayStation button for its Xbox twin. Use this chart:

Example: the money cheat on a classic Xbox version is RT, RB, LT, A, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up. In the Definitive Edition the bumpers and triggers are swapped, so it becomes RB, RT, LB, A, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up.

Classic vs Definitive Edition cheats

The 2021 Definitive Edition (the remaster on PS4, PS5, Xbox, Switch and PC) kept most codes, but a few cheats were removed — mainly ones that caused bugs. On this page, codes marked “not in the Definitive Edition” only work in the original release (PS2, the PS3/PS4 classic re-release and the original Xbox versions). Everything else works on both.

The Definitive Edition also added one new code: Big head mode — Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, O, X.

Cheats that change your save forever

Most cheats only last until you reload, but these change CJ’s stats in the save file itself:

• 💪 Max muscle and skinny — change CJ’s body. You can train it back at the gym.
• ⭐ Max respect and max sex appeal — affect gang recruitment and girlfriends.
• 🚗 Max driving skill and hitman weapon skill — make CJ an expert instantly.

Some players like these for a fresh start. If you don’t want them in your main game, save in a separate slot before entering them.

Why isn’t my GTA San Andreas cheat working?

• ✅ Are you in a cutscene or menu? Codes only work during normal gameplay.
• ✅ Did you use the d-pad? The left stick doesn’t count for Up/Down/Left/Right.
• ✅ Did you mix up L1 and L2? This is the most common mistake on PlayStation.
• ✅ Are you on the Definitive Edition? A handful of cheats were removed from the remaster.
• ✅ Did a mission block it? Some missions ignore wanted-level and vehicle cheats.

GTA San Andreas on every console

GTA San Andreas has been re-released many times, and the button cheats followed it to every PlayStation:

If you play the PS2 Classics version on PS4 or PS5, the controller works exactly like a PS2 pad, so every code on this page works.

Cheat categories explained

Health, armor and money

The famous money code gives $250,000, full health and armor and repairs your car. It’s the cheat most people use first. Infinite health and adrenaline mode are only in the classic versions.

Weapons

There are three weapon sets — “thug’s tools”, “professional tools” and “nutter tools” — with progressively heavier weapons, from baseball bats and pistols up to rocket launchers and minigun-style firepower. Infinite ammo removes reloading, and the hitman code maxes every weapon skill so CJ can dual-wield.

Vehicles

Spawn codes give you the Rhino tank, Hydra jet, Hunter helicopter, jetpack, Monster truck, quad bike and more. Driving cheats include nitro on all cars, perfect handling, flying cars and boats, and cars that drive on water.

World and weather

Change the weather (very sunny, stormy, foggy, sandstorm), speed up or slow down the game, lock the clock at 9 PM or set off riots and armed pedestrians.

Which cheats are safe for story missions?

Weapon, health and money cheats are safe to use during missions. Be careful with these:

• ⚠️ Wanted-level locks — some missions need you to lose the police, and a locked wanted level makes that impossible.
• ⚠️ Riot and armed pedestrians — they can kill mission characters you need to protect.
• ⚠️ Stat cheats — very low fat or muscle can affect girlfriends and some story moments.

Tips for having fun with cheats

• 🎉 Chaos combo: pedestrian riot + pedestrians carry weapons + six-star wanted level makes Los Santos a battlefield.
• 🌊 Water driving: cars drive on water + nitro on all cars lets you race across the bay.
• 🛩️ Flying boats: spawn a boat on the coast and take off — great for exploring.
